I craft these flower lights sometimes from acrylic cuts and found components. I weld the plastic parts together with the light for best light transfer between the LED and the acryclic cuts.

I had some crafting time with family and we brought "Gurp" to life as a small keychain. We turned a couple of test cuts into earrings, and afterwards, having dialed in to the right settings for the material, I made a lanternfly hairclip with some fine details.

Part of my ongoing obsession with tiles, these laser cut tiles combine together to form fascinating pictographs.

Salvaged wood, salvaged metal
My apartment is great, but tiny, so I built a shelf that fits neatly behind the door when it's open, rendering unused space into significant storage. All of the materials were scrap.

Laser cut wood, magnets, wire
I don't have many Copics myself, but I have a friend whose collection has become quite ludicrous. The devices he uses to keep the markers organized is pretty impressive, and seemed like a perfect opportunity for some crafting. I now use this prototype as a general pen/small cylinder organizer, and I'm sure I'll be making more versions in the future.

React, SVG
One of the other members at my studio ,Nate Harris, runs a very cool custom letter blocks project. I helped him update his order page by integrating a custom WYSIWYG widget that provides a live preview of the shopper's puzzle. I wrote scripts to extract SVG paths from the original files Nate uses to trace the letters, then built a React component that renders the puzzle preview live as the user types. This gives shoppers a great idea of how their custom puzzle will look before ordering (and is great fun to play with).

ILD Games
Squatbot brings tight platforming to mobile devices, with an adorable hopping robo-protagonist. I personally worked most on the character design & animation, creating more than 60 different skins, and tooling that allowed me to animate once and re-render the animations for all skins. I also created promotional videos for the game, fit both to advertising and to storefront listings.

During downtime in the slow season at the refrigeration shop, I decided to recycle some of the full-page paper receipts we routinely landfill. I made a slurry with some assistance from my boss who attached some aluminum banding to a pipe as a makeshift paper blender. I then filter the slurry thru a mold & deckle and transfer the paper to a surface to dry.

I eat a lot of grape leaves which come in a can that is the same size and shape as the classic fuzz face. Seems like an obvious marriage, but first, I had to develop a method for processing the cans so they are worthy of pedal magic.

The Vining Heights Tileset distills some of the unique character of Brooklyn, NY into impressionistic tiles that provide everything you need to make a unique pixel art game set in a beautiful modern urban landscape. Based on plein air sessions thruout the borough, these tiles, like the wear and tear of time and life, reveal the deep beauty of the world around us.

No Rats Were Harmed is a 2024 collaboration with ILD Games' Nick Defossez. Made for the Boss Rush Game Jam '24, between January 13th and February 5th, we pushed our comfort zones and delivered an ambitious title combining 2D and 3D in 23 days. During that time, I animated 4 characters with complete movesets, and had concepted 2 additional characters who didn't make it into the final game. In the end, we delivered 3 boss fights that I feel are quite fun, and certainly have a lot of character. I made music for the game and coded the music system, I also coded & created the 3D scene.

The Vining Heights Construction set is another pixel art asset in the Vining Heights series.

Godot, ASEprite
Some morning glories I planted in my garden burst to life this spring and I couldn't help but bring them to life in the digital world. Alongside the floral asset itself, I also released a small sandbox where you can grow your own morning glories if you find yourself stuck somewhere with more compute than soil.

There may be nothing more captivating than a tank of jellyfish. At a restaurant recently, 2 moon jellies made of plastic had sunk and stuck permanently to the bottom. It did not capture the beauty I remember from the acquariums.
It's like I'm always remaking myself. Or perhaps I have many facets. Either way, lots of different ways to make a website.
